ABOUT BARBARA LUSTGARTEN EVOY

For almost 20 years, Barbara Lustgarten-Evoy has volunteered, served, listened, and led in Centre Wellington. As your Ward 3 Councillor for four years, she has worked to ensure community voices shape council decisions while helping guide thoughtful growth, responsible spending, and long-term planning. Her external council committees include the Farm Safety Association and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee. In addition, she proudly represents Centre Wellington as the voice for our township on the OSUM (Ontario Small Urban Municipalities) Executive Committee.
Barbara is a passionate advocate for our community, combining her experience as a business owner with a deep commitment to volunteerism. With a proven track record of service, she understands the importance of listening to Ward 3 constituents and working tirelessly to address your concerns.
VALUES & PRIORITIES
Thoughtful leadership to help ensure that our community always feels like home.
Integrity, Honesty, & Transparency
Focused on earning your trust by making principled decisions openly, explaining them honestly, and always putting the community’s interests ahead of politics.
I believe that trust is earned through transparency. I read the reports, ask the questions, explain my decisions, and vote based on what I believe is best for our community.
Community First
Responding to residents through meaningful community engagement.
I believe the best decisions happen when we listen first. I have always valued hearing directly from residents, understanding their concerns, and using that feedback to make thoughtful decisions that reflect our community’s priorities.
Responsible Spending
Demonstrated dedication to ensuring tax dollars are managed with discipline and care.
I supported securing competitive provincial grants so that the cost of handling new housing growth falls on developer funding and upper levels of government, and not on local household property taxes.
Long Term Planning
Focused on creating practical, evidence-based plans that manage growth proactively rather than just reacting to it.
I strongly supported keeping major multi-year private redevelopment accountable to strict, phased timelines protecting our town’s budget and ensuring the growth will benefit our community.
Water & Farmland
Unwavering commitment to the protection of our groundwater and prime agricultural lands to secure our community’s environmental food future.
I believe growth and environmental protection must go hand in hand. I supported clear growth boundaries that protect our prime agricultural lands while also supporting the purchase of Middlebrook Well because protecting our groundwater today, ensures a safer, more sustainable future.
Family Health and Wellness
Focused on ensuring our growing community has the parks, recreation, and community supports needed so that every family can thrive today, and well into the future.
In acknowledging the need for more recreational facilities, I was very supportive of purchasing the 90 acres of land beside the Fergus Sportsplex to help ensure we have the space for our future generations.
